The Graduate Certificate (TESOL) equips student teachers to Teach English to Speakers of Other Languages both in Australia and overseas.This degree assists experienced, practising teachers in their career development by providing them with an additional specialist teaching area. For teachers who wish to add TESOL to their professional repertoire, this Certificate will provide them with a qualification which will allow them to work within the field in their current employment and assist with applications for positions at specialist language centres in Australia and overseas. Student teachers choose four of the five units on offer (see Subjects in this degree). One of these can be a practicum unit (CUR-TESOL505 Language Teaching Practice) which requires student teachers to work alongside an approved mentor teacher in a school or language centre for 10 days with at least 20 hours of supervised and assessed face to face teaching practice within that time. Student teachers hoping to use their Grad Cert TESOL in schools and centres in NSW (and other states where a practicum component is compulsory) should choose the practicum unit (CUR-TESOL505 Language Teaching Practice) alongside the unit Teaching English to Speakers of Other Language Methodologies (CUR-TESOL502) in SP1. CUR-TESOL501 (Materials Design and Assessment) will not be chosen by those wishing to complete a practicum component as CUR-TESOL505 replaces this unit.  PLEASE NOTE: CSP funding has been secured for this Grad Cert TESOLThe Grad Cert TESOL is a pathway to the Curtin MA Applied Linguistics which builds on the knowledge and skills in TESOL developed in the Certificate. Graduate Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL)

This degree is designed for people seeking to attain an Initial Teacher Education qualification in order to register as a teacher in Australia and any other countries that recognise an Australian teaching qualification. Students will develop advanced critical skills, knowledge and understanding concerning best practice in education and in meeting the needs of 21st century learners. Graduates from this degree will be well-placed to enter leadership pathways in their teaching careers. Most subjects in this degree will be offered fully online, in order to provide more flexible access. Students will have four opportunities to engage in professional practice in schools, culminating in a final professional placement of 5 continuous weeks.The Master of Teaching (Secondary Education) will be chosen by those who wish to teach in Secondary schools in Years 7 - 12. Students in this degree will specialise in either one or two Secondary school curriculum areas, depending on their previous study, and will be qualified to teach in those subject areas of the Secondary curriculum. Master of Teaching (Early Childhood and Primary)

This program meets one of the knowledge requirements of becoming a registered Migration Agent in Australia. The Office of the Migration Agents Registration Authority (OMARA) recognises Griffith University as a provider of the Graduate Diploma of Australian Migration Law and Practice. Applicants intending to register should also ensure they meet OMARA requirements for registration. Only Australian citizens (or those holding permanent resident visas) can register with OMARA.Our courses are specifically designed to equip emerging migration agents to meet the Occupational Competency Standards for Registered Migration Agents. Graduates are equipped with a broad range of knowledge about the theoretical and practical aspects required to succeed in this occupation. Dialogue across Cultures and Religions

This subject introduces the Australian Legal System and then focuses on fundamental legal rules and regulations relating to Contract Law and Corporations Law. The subject covers basic principles of Contract Law with particular reference to business entities including the nature and legal consequences of contract, formation of contract, terms of a contract and capacity of parties; misleading conduct in contracts; discharge of contract and remedies for breach of contract. The subject will also examine business structures and provide an overview of basic Corporations Law including the formation of companies under Australian law and consequences of incorporation; company internal rules; management and contracting; corporate governance including membership, meetings and directors duties, members remedies, accounts and financial reporting and audit; and external administration of companies.
