This course examines how business is changing and how, as a result, there are a growing number of businesses that are focused on responding to major social, environmental, and economic challenges both in Australia and internationally. Businesses are changing the way we approach issues like poverty, homelessness, climate change, and unemployment and alongside these changes we are seeing the growth of social enterprises, impact investment, social innovation, and market-based approaches to creating positive outcomes for people, place and planet.Students should not enrol in this subject if they have previously completed 3038IBA The Business of Changing the World at Griffith University.

The Business of Changing the World

This subject was previously known as Italian Eco-Cinema.This interdisciplinary online course introduces students to transnational eco-cinema studies through an exploration of 21st-century Italian films. Designed for a diverse student cohort, it brings together those with interests in Italian studies, the environmental humanities or screen studies. No prior knowledge of film analysis is required; the course presents the necessary concepts and tools for analysis from an eco-cinema perspective. However, students who do have experience in screen studies will be able to extend their knowledge of the cinematic traditions informing contemporary Italian film-making as well as exploring the new methodological framework of eco-cinema. Students of Italian will further develop their linguistic, cultural and intercultural competence through access to additional resources in Italian and completion of assessment in Italian. For those not studying Italian, all necessary materials are provided in English. PREREQUISITES: For students undertaking assessment in Italian: 2092LHS or equivalent. Eco-Cinema

Business operations have been facing several ethical and sustainable issues, impacting people and the planet around the world. As a manager, it is essential that you have a grounding in the key economic, social and environmental impacts of business and its implications for management practice and decision making. As a part of this course, you will explore ethical and sustainable business, by referring to the concepts and theories of business ethics and sustainability. You will be able to identity, analyse and resolve ethical, social and environmental issues impacting various stakeholders, such as employees, shareholders, customers, government and civil societies. Prerequisites: Completion of 80 CPStudents should not enrol in this subject if they have completed: 3113IBA/3183IBA OR 3006IBA/3086IBA Business Ethics and Corporate Governance/International Business Ethics and Corporate Governance or 3013MGT Corporate Social Responsibility or 3006IBA Creating Ethical and Sustainable Business

Ask questions about the ethical issues surrounding international corporate decision-making. Unpack management strategies and global business systems. List the various stakeholders in this conversation. Contrast personal and organisational ethics.

Creating Ethical and Sustainable Business

This advanced final year course provides you with the opportunity to apply your university learning drawing on your disciplinary knowledge, skills and theory acquired through your studies to work as a multi-disciplinary student consulting team to create better business outcomes for a live industry client project. Industry projects will see student teams working with a diverse profile of clients across industries, ranging from large Australian and multinational companies to niche agencies, Start-ups and not-for-profit organisations. The list of client projects will be updated each trimester based on available projects and industry partners. Supported by interactive online material, workshops with experienced academic coaches and industry mentors and a final interactive oral assessment with the industry client, this course and its assessment platform have been specifically designed to facilitate a critical reflection on your employability skills and provide you with evidence to demonstrate that you possess the attributes of a Griffith Graduate.Pre-requisite: Single degree students must have completed at least 16 units (i.e. you are in your final two trimesters of study) before enrolling in this course. Double degree students must have completed at least 24 units of courses (and preferably you are in your fourth year [full-time equivalent] of study) before enrolling in this course. Students should not enrol in this subject if they have completed 3103GBS Creating Better Business at Griffith University.
