The Master of Arts (Women&#39;s and Gender Studies) requires 2 years of full-time study (or the equivalent part-time). The course specialisation is offered by the College of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences.Offered both in-person and online, Flinders Women’s studies explores the importance of the concepts and constructs surrounding gender and society. Why so many think the way they do. How societies developed upon gender-orientated lines, and why it’s more important than ever to question taken-for-granted assumptions to build a more balanced, inclusive and just future.It explores feminist politics and different types of feminism, women’s empowerment, human rights, indigenous knowledges, LGBTIQ issues - intersectional approaches help us understand who we are, and how we can better advocate for those whose experience is different to ours.

Learn how to think critically about gender and feminism, so you can champion the marginalised. Express your ideas in a thesis. Graduates of this course use their advocacy skills in all sorts of careers, like politics, journalism, health and teaching.

This subject was previously known as Digital Culture and Everyday Life.For many people, everyday life now involves constant interaction with the Internet via digitally networked platforms and devices. As cyberspace and real space come together, it can be easy to miss the impacts of the Internet on us and on our society and culture. Students will explore how their own experiences and ‘everyday Internet’ may be different from others, and the implications of this for studying digital culture. Through specific topics such as entertainment, politics, sex, and relationships students will analyse digital culture conceptually, towards better understanding how technology and society are intertwined.Please Note: If it’s your first time studying a Curtin University subject, you’ll need to complete their compulsory ‘Academic Integrity Program’.
