Master of Public Policy and Leadership

With Griffith Business School&#39;s Bachelor of Business/Bachelor of Political Science and International Relations, you can multiply your career options. Bachelor of Business/Bachelor of Political Science and International Relations

This degree will provide you with a deep understanding of policy, politics and power in the domestic and international spheres. You&#39;ll learn about political movements and institutions, processes of lawmaking, diplomacy and global politics. You&#39;ll explore how democracy thrives or struggles to survive, and the strategies authoritarian leaders increasingly use to maintain their grip on power, among a range of other exciting topics in Political Science and International Relations.In your second and third years, you&#39;ll gain valuable specialised knowledge by completing one or two majors in International Relations, Political Science and Public Policy; or Security, Conflict and Human Rights. Throughout your studies, you&#39;ll gain the skills and training needed for pursuing your own career pathway, including taking dedicated employability courses and having opportunities to complete a work placement, field study trip, or parliamentary internship.

Bachelor of Advanced Political Science and International Relations (Honours)

The research- led and industry engaged program draws on current thinking and real-life examples to significantly build the professional skills of those in the public and private sector. Whether you already work in government at local, state or national level, or you work with government and want to understand what drives and influences decision-making, this degree will equip you with a sophisticated understanding of how 21st Century policy-making and governance works.Upon successful completion of the graduate certificate you will be eligible for 40 credit points of advanced standing towards the Master of Public Administration (5580).

This capstone course acts as the arch at the apex of the Politics and Public Policy major within the Bachelor of Government and International Relations, and associated degrees in which this major is offered. It draws together the knowledge students have gained from previous courses and also looks forward to the workplace. It will focus on both by considering theoretical approaches to problems and their practical solutions. Students will be expected to relate various issues to one another and to understand the implications of different policy approaches. The course will build on and further develop skills which will be useful in the workplace. Students should not enrol in this subject if they have previously completed 3001GIR Solving Policy Problems at Griffith University.
