In business, financial skills drive profitability within the rules and regulations of government, institutions and organizations. In this subject you will understand basic monetary flows in the economy, and the interrelationships and dependencies between money, society, groups and organizations, locally and globally. You will develop core skills in financial literacy for business and an understanding of the key principles of accounting, finance and economics. Sound accounting, finance and economics skills are sought by employers in any business graduate, as they enable a solid understanding of the principles that drive enterprise toward success.Students should not enrol in this subject if they have completed 1006GBS Why Money Matters at Griffith University.

An online business course that sets you up with skills in accounting, finance, and economics. Topics include financial statements, budgeting, and scams to look out for. Manage money effectively and make informed investment decisions. 

This subject introduces students to the law relating to financial products, financial markets, lending and other finance related activities of Australian banks and other financial institutions in the private sector. Topics covered include the Australian financial system; the relationship between lender and borrower; the statutory regulation of credit; loans to differing forms of business organisations; consumer credit - including Consumer Credit Code, EFT Code of Conduct, payment system and mechanisms, Managed Investment Schemes: real and personal property and the law and enforcement of securities and consequent remedies through the courts/tribunals as well as alternative dispute resolution methods. Prerequisites: AFE215 Introduction to Business Law. Students should not enrol in this subject if they have previously completed 3105AFE: Law of Finance at Griffith University.
