Bachelor of Software Engineering (Game Programming)

This degree was previously known as Bachelor of Arts (Digital Design).
The Digital Experience and Interaction Design major allows you to experience the exciting, creative fields within digital design and interactive media.
This major provides you with a comprehensive theory and practice-based education in digital design, focusing on key principles and techniques in website design, user interaction / experience design (UI/UX) and app design. You will use digital technologies to develop forward-thinking and innovative design solutions to real-world problems. The major has a strong industry and design research focus, and you will work on real-world projects, facilitated by experienced staff and industry specialists. There is emphasis on concept generation, creative problem-solving, aesthetics and advanced technical skills in digital technologies using the latest digital production software. In this subject you are introduced to the steps involved in designing and creating a software solution to simple real-life problems. To enable students to design a program, the subject introduces the way to break down the problems into smaller parts and analyse them methodically by using simple techniques such as drawing flowcharts. You will be introduced to the Python programming language as a means of creating executable program code to implement working software solutions.

Programming Environment

This subject will extend your knowledge and experience of programming. It introduces dynamic data structures, foundational collection abstract data types, and computational algorithms and techniques. Programming is undertaken in Python and Java and topics include: references, memory management, self-referential data structures, abstract data types and their implementation, and an introduction to algorithm complexity.

Programming

This subject explores the principles and applications of robotics and intelligent systems in a variety of sectors. It provides you with the necessary information and programming abilities to traverse real-world robotics settings. You will receive remote practical experience creating and completing robotics tasks through hands-on remote learning activities. You will work on projects that apply theoretical principles to real implementations. This subject also focuses on effective and inventive problem-solving methodologies, developing your ability to apply programming skills to industry applications. A comprehensive project report will demonstrate your knowledge of robotics foundations, problem-solving talents, and programming expertise.

Programming for Robotics

In this subject, you will develop higher level classification skills to a level of competency that qualifies you professionally, as a workforce entry-level clinical/medical coder. You will further develop your working knowledge of medical science and terminology and be introduced to common clinical documentation deficiencies and practice clinical documentation improvement skills. You will be introduced to the health classification-financial relationship within the context of Activity Based Funding and the National Funding Model and develop a deeper understanding of the classification system by examining Diagnostic-Related Group (DRG) and National Weighted Activity Unit (NWAU) assignment. You will have exposure to State and Territory specific guidelines relevant to admitted care data items, which can impact on coding. This subject is graded only as a Pass (P) or Fail (F). A mark of 75% or greater is required to achieve a Pass grade in line with industry standards and expectations. Recommended for students who have completed all first-year subjects in the Bachelor of Health Information Management.

Health Classification C

Modern software development is a multi-billion dollar industry, where problem-solving skills and solid understanding of programming techniques and practices are vital for producing high quality software. Building core knowledge for the study of computer science, this subject introduces you to techniques for computer program development. You will gain experience using a high-level programming language, and UNIX-type operating systems for developing and debugging computer programs. Honing skills for structured problem solving, you will develop and implement algorithms that break complex problems down into their component tasks and procedures. You will also explore the social implications, ethics and professional practice for IT. Your learning is reinforced throughout with practical exercises that challenge you with interesting problems. Topics include control structures, data types, algorithm design and analysis, basic hardware components and a user view of operating systems.

Introduction to Programming and the UNIX Environment

This subject introduces fundamental programming skills, developing students&#39; ability to think algorithmically to solve problems and to express their ideas in well-constructed Python code. Beginning with the fundamental characteristics of computers and how they represent information, the subject develops the concepts of data types, variables, expressions (calculations), statements (actions), and text-based input and output. Building on these low-level constructs, the subject examines ways to manage program complexity with control structures (for making decisions), functions and their parameters, built-in and custom data structures, and higher-level organisational mechanisms such as modules. Students will have the opportunity to explore advanced topics such as error handling and recursion.

This subject is designed to provide you with hands on practical experience developing software in a project environment. You work in teams and will complete projects from inception to implementation.
This subject includes a Work Integrated Learning (WIL) experience in which your knowledge and skills will be applied and assessed in a real or simulated workplace context and where feedback from industry and/ or community is integral to your experience.
As the project teams and projects will be assigned during the first week all enrolled students are advised to engage with the subject from the beginning of week 1.
Please note: This subject is considered to be a capstone subject for the Bachelor of Information Technology degree in which students demonstrate their competency in a (simulated) Work Integrated Learning (WIL) environment.
All students seeking the Bachelor of Information Technology award will need to complete this subject.

This subject will enable students to learn how to write an individualised exercise program to meet those needs. Students will be shown the fundamentals of exercise prescription and delivery to provide a basic program for healthy individuals. Concepts of progression and program modification will be identified.
