This degree is the prerequisite for entry into the Master of Architecture. The degree covers the design of buildings, the technical aspects of building construction, and how architecture relates to societies, cultures and people and the way they live. Architectural ideas are communicated through written and spoken reports, photographs, drawings, models and the electronic media. Students not intending to continue on to the Master may use the knowledge gained in this degree to seek employment within the architectural profession or building industry.Software Requirements - Students will require access to the following software: Photoshop, AutoCAD and Rhino. This subject introduces the reality of contemporary professional practice, and allows students to consider and prepare for opportunities for future industry employment. Contemporary local, national and international transdisciplinary realities of Interior Architecture practice are the foci of this subject, which investigates and simulates real-life issues, complexities and opportunities in practice. Interior Architecture Practice 1

This subject was previously known as Residential Construction.
In this subject students will be introduced to the types, components and practices of low-rise domestic construction. In this overview of basic constructional materials used in domestic construction students will apply aspects of applied science to relevant building types by examining the properties of matter, wave motion, heat, light and sound). Students will also evaluate solar effects on buildings. Fieldwork is a component of this subject.

Low Rise Construction

This subject was previously known as Architectural Design and Technical Integration Methods.
This subject focuses on application of advanced visual, oral and written techniques required to communicate design ideation and resolved architectural proposition and body of architectural work. The work conducted in this subject supplements the work concurrently being developed in other subjects.
Work Integrated Learning is incorporated developing practice standard presentation and communication skills, culminating in a professional portfolio.
This subject has BAS300 Architecture Design 5 and BAS305 Architecture Methods 5 as mandatory prerequisites. If you have completed BAS300 prior to 2015, you are not required to enrol into BAS305 as BAS300 was previously counted as double subject. Please get a prerequisite waiver from Curtin to proceed with enrolment in BAS335.
