Students learn how to understand common business contractual terms and implications to develop an appreciation of how contracts are used to allocate risk. This course will focus on the principles of contract law governing performance, discharge and breach of contract and remedies for breach. It will also include the separate doctrine of restitution. This course builds on Contract Law A and the relevant principles from common law, equity and statute. Students will be assessed on their ability to identify relevant legal issues in a contractual dispute and create appropriately reasoned solutions.

Contract Law B

This subject was previously known as CME305 Contract Administration.
This subject engages students in the administration of a project, through authentic industry scenarios, and includes contractual procedures, the rights and obligations of contractual parties and computer-aided contract administration.

Manufacture a contract administration project. Navigate processes and consider the rights and obligations of contractual parties. Make contract recommendations. Use contract management software to interpret, assess and track project conditions. 

This subject introduces students to sources of law affecting building projects (including the judicial system, common and statute law, contract law, torts and dispute resolution) in relation to the various types of contracts available for project delivery. Construction Contracts and Procurement

This subject explores the nature of contracts in business to business relationships. You will examine the legalities surrounding contracts, including different types of contracts and important clauses. You will also learn the processes involved with contract administration, including contract variations, performance management and dealing with contract disputes, both from a contractor and client perspective. Through a case study analysis, you will investigate and resolve issues related to supplier performance and dispute resolution. As a major assessment task, you will develop an organisational contract management artefact to assist others with managing contracts.
