This degree is the prerequisite for entry into the Master of Architecture. The degree covers the design of buildings, the technical aspects of building construction, and how architecture relates to societies, cultures and people and the way they live. Architectural ideas are communicated through written and spoken reports, photographs, drawings, models and the electronic media. Students not intending to continue on to the Master may use the knowledge gained in this degree to seek employment within the architectural profession or building industry.Software Requirements - Students will require access to the following software: Photoshop, AutoCAD and Rhino. Details on accessing AutoCAD and Rhino will be provided in due degree at the commencement of relevant subjects (please note this software is free for student use). Bachelor of Applied Science (Architectural Science)

The Bachelor of Applied Science (Construction Management) is a 4 year, full-time equivalent program. The first 3 levels comprised of 20 subjects (20 x 25 credit). The fourth level of study is within either a Professional or an Honours Stream involving a research based thesis (both streams comprise 7 subjects (6 x 25 credit plus 1 x 50 credit). Students will get to pick one Specialisation stream as part of the program which comprised of 4 subjects (4 x 25 credit). Overall the degree is a total of 31 subjects.Bachelor Degrees prepare students to develop broad and coherent knowledge and skills in a discipline for professional work and further learning corresponding to AQF level 7 qualifications. The honours component prepares students to develop advanced knowledge and skills for professional work, research and further learning corresponding to AQF level 8 qualifications.This program is a management-orientated practice-based program which covers a broad range of interrelated disciplines including domestic, commercial and civil construction. It focuses on several core subject areas, including technology, measurement and estimating, project management, contracts administration, cost management and communication.As part of this program, students select a Specialisation from the following:<ul><li>Animation and Game Architecture Design - Learn the fundamentals of the exciting area of animation and game design. You will create immersive experiences, learn techniques for 3D modelling and animation, develop creative and compelling visuals, and use motion graphics and game related technologies.</li><li>Interior Architecture - Understand principles informing Interior Architecture design considerations including design elements, interior theory, philosophy, practice and aesthetics that impact and inform spatial experience.</li><li>Planning and Geography - Understand key concepts and approaches for understanding cities as cultural landscapes, including urban and regional planning principles, governance, social geographies of cities, geographical analysis, and spatial experience at an urban scale.</li></ul>The program includes a requirement to complete 80-days of industry-based work experience prior to graduation.The final year of the program includes a capstone project, allowing students to extend their knowledge of current academic research methodology. Bachelor of Applied Science (Construction Management)

This program replaces both the Bachelor of Arts (Interior Architecture) and the Bachelor of Applied Science (Interior Architecture).Interior designers, as qualified professionals in Interior Architecture, design quality environments for a diverse range of users and functions. They coordinate the design and construction of building interiors including commercial, workplace, hospitality, medical, gallery, and retail environments. In addition, interior designers may be involved with more transient environments and the associated displays for trade fairs, exhibitions, museums, and public events. Their skills and knowledge are also utilised for adaptive reuse of existing buildings and conservation of significant sites. Interior designers require skills and understanding in all aspects of design, including technical knowledge of interior construction, equipment and building systems. They must also exercise ability in communication and administrative skills. The degree also provides a sound basis for more specialised careers and study in areas such as furniture or set design, education and/or research.In order to complete this program, students are also required to complete at least 80 hours&#39; work experience in the industry before graduation.Once you have been admitted to the program, you will choose a Specialisation (or Minor) in a discipline area complementary to Interior Architecture. This subject provides students with detailed knowledge of how food processing and preservation impact on individual food components and the opportunity to translate their nutrition knowledge into a food product. Through a series of activities, students will critically examine the processes involved in producing foods for human consumption from raw ingredients, highlighting food production and processing techniques that bring about changes to the biological, chemical, physical and nutritional state of the food. Students will work in groups and use user-centred design techniques to design or re-design a food product ready for sale in line with the Food Standards Code.

Applied Research In Nutrition

In this subject students continue to engage with their professional practice project. Skills pertaining to the gathering, analysis, interpretation and dissemination of findings will be developed to a high standard. Students will provide a written and verbal research progress report and a final report in the format of a journal article for publication. The student will work with the course coordinator to publish key findings in peer reviewed journal articles.

Applied Research 2

In this course students will independently design and develop a workplace based project that meets ethical requirements. Students will be supported by the course coordinator as they engage in a review of the subject literature to support project design, implementation strategies and evaluation. Students will learn how to use academic writing to support their proposal development embedded with related theory and professional practice.

This subject is designed to provide an accessible and practical introduction to microbiology. In this subject, you will acquire and apply knowledge of microbiology principles and techniques as relevant to applied or industry contexts. You will be introduced to key microbiology concepts, such as the impact of microorganisms, microbial characteristics and interactions, microbial-risk management, microbiological technologies, and emerging microbiological opportunities, as relevant to a range of applications and scenarios.Through a laboratory workshop, you will gain practical knowledge and insight into microbiology techniques. A brief look at basic concepts and notation of sets will lead us to the study of linear algebra and systems of linear equations related to graphs of linear functions. We will then study algebra with indices, logarithms and trigonometry. The concept of sequences and series will be introduced through arithmetic and geometric progressions. The subject will conclude with studies of probability and statistics. We look at dependent and independent events, conditional probability and probability tables.
