This course will provide students with a detailed understanding of the nature, process, coordination and management of business logistics in achieving sustainable business outcomes. Current issues considered include: warehousing and packaging, transport and its management, supply network designing for material/service/information flows; performance measurement and the engagement with external logistics service providers, logistics in a carbon constrained environment; scheduling in transport and service industries, and redesigning material and service flows in supply chains/networks. International Business Logistics

This course focusses on the application of innovative new technologies across the supply chain network. Currently, for-profit and non-for-profit businesses are increasingly using new technologies to simultaneously improve efficiency and deliver flexibility across supply chains. Specifically, this unit discusses the application of artificial intelligence (AI), blockchain, automation, big data and internet of things (IoT), as well as the use and result interpretation of optimisation packages for supply chain management.Students should not enrol in this subject if they have completed 3157IBA Supply Chain Innovation and Optimsation at Griffith University.

Supply Chain Innovation and Optimisation

This course continues to develop the issues examined in Business Logistics and provides conceptual models for students to define, measure, manage, control and develop effectively the material and information flows throughout a supply chain. Topics may include: business strategy, policy and processes; information flows; managing information; accounting for flows of goods and services; purchase planning; existing channels; risk and cost positioning; pricing, and costing and strategic involvement.Students should not enrol in this subject if they have completed 3155IBA Operations Management at Griffith University.

Operations Management

This course examines the key areas of purchasing and supply of goods and services in a logistics and supply chain context. Key issues such as purchasing and e-purchasing, managing contracts, monitoring performance under contracts, contract renewal, and contract termination will be examined. The critical areas of relationship management and managing information, in the context of purchasing and supply, will be themes throughout the course.Students should not enrol in this subject if they have completed 2155IBA Procurement and Supply Management at Griffith University.
