Healthcare professionals regularly make clinical decisions in complex and challenging situations. Teaching future generations of healthcare professions about how these decisions are made is even more challenging. This subject will explore theories and models of clinical reasoning and will attempt to give shape and form to the often subconscious mental processes that constitute the skill of clinical decision making. With this more systematic understanding of clinical reasoning, healthcare professionals will be in better place to facilitate its development in others.
