About this degree
Graduates of this program will gain an advanced knowledge of renewable energy systems, including the generation, transmission, storage, and use of this energy. They will gain knowledge of the principles of cleaner production, and how these principles are put into practice. Technically, graduates of the program will also gain expert knowledge in common renewable energy generation technologies such as wind, solar, biomass, and geothermal energy, as well as knowledge of the methodologies used to analyse and optimise energy usage in both residential and commercial environments
As the energy sector rapidly evolves upskill your engineering credentials to make the most of the renewable energy industry. This degree will expand your potential by providing you with specialised knowledge in the rapidly expanding area of renewable energy engineering, including solar, wind and biomass. On graduation you will be uniquely qualified to capitalise in the rapidly changing energy sector with an understanding of issues in energy policy, impacts of renewable energy systems and the commercialisation of renewable energy systems.
This program is offered part-time at the Nathan campus and Online in Trimesters 1 and 2.

To be eligible for the award of Graduate Certificate in Renewable Energy Engineering (GCertRenewEnergyEng), a student must acquire 40 credit points as prescribed below:

Entry requirements
To be eligible for admission to the Graduate Certificate in Renewable Energy Engineering , an applicant must:
- a three-year Engineering degree (for example, Bachelor of Engineering Science or Bachelor of Engineering Technology or equivalent) in a cognate discipline;
- AND must have a GPA of no less than 4.0 on a 7-point scale.
English language requirements apply to International applicants and other applicants whose previous study was undertaken in a language other than English. The minimum English language requirements for such applicants for entry to this program are as follows:
- A minimum overall band score of 6.5 on IELTS (Academic) with no sub-score of less than 6.0
- OR a minimum score of 575 on TOEFL
- OR an internet-based (iBT) TOEFL score of 79 (no sub-score less than 19)
- OR no score less than 3+ in each skill of the ISLPR (conducted by ISLPR Language Services only)
- OR a minimum overall score of 176 (no score less than 169) on C1 Advanced (formerly Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English) or C2 Proficiency (formerly Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English)
- OR an overall score of 58 in the Pearson Test of English (Academic) with no score less than 50.
English test results must be no more than two years old.
